I had high hopes for my family's first camping trip. Scott and Jeri planned a weekend of fun at Trial Lake with lots of food, fishing, and enjoying the great outdoors. Unfortunately for me...my appendix had other plans. I got really sick the during our first night and couldn't shake the intense pain in my lower right abdominal region. Camping is not the ideal spot to come down with appendicitis. There is just something not right about throwing up in an out house. I felt really bad leaving Saturday morning but I knew I couldn't stay any longer. Max and I got a ride from Scott who had to head to Salt Lake anyway, and the rest of the campers stayed behind. I was sure I could just sleep it off at home. Randy and Hank stayed, but I knew they could be home in an hour or so if I needed them. Here are a few pictures before I left.
Dyson, Jayden, Hank, and Colby had a blast together. Hank LOVES his cousins!
It became quite apparent I needed medical attention as my condition continued to worsen. Thanks to some investigation by my mom and Sarah, we determined the ER was the best place for me. I had every symptom of appendicitis. The ER was really busy but they got me started on some good pain meds and anti nausea medicine so I didn't mind the wait. Scott got a hold of Randy and he made it home just in time to see me off to surgery. I am so lucky to have such great family. My mom, dad, Sarah and Brett were there to give me support and watch Max until Randy could be there. Jeri, Scott, Jenni, and Lynn took care of Hank for me which gave me so much comfort. The surgeon removed my very infected appendix and also removed some scar tissue from the last surgery I had after Max was born. In retrospect, they should have taken my appendix out 2 years ago when I was having trouble. I have had pain in the region for a long time. Since the surgery was done so late, they kept me overnight. I'm home now and feeling sore but much better.
Jeri brought Hank home shortly after I returned from the hospital. He wanted to know all about the surgery and he is obsessed with watching the procedure on You Tube. It's disgusting to watch, but he loves it. Maybe we have a future doctor on our hands!

I am SO glad you are ok! Isn't it amazing how things worked out. If Scott hadn't been heading to SLC I think you would have tried to stick it out until maybe too late! We'll do another campout - probably next summer - so plan now! No sickness and BIGGER FISH. btw.. we didn't do the fish fry because you weren't there to enjoy it!
Wow Annie, I had no idea you just went through all of that. Once again, thanks to blogging we can stay in-tune. I'm sorry to hear you were so miserable. Being sick away from home is the worst. Glad you are on the mend.
Dang Annie!! That sucks for you! I had my appendix out in third grade and I still remember that evening in detail... I feel your pain, that stuff's no fun. Sorry about your camping trip. We went camping too, though we don't have any cool stories like yours. I'm glad you are home and feeling better! Let me know if I can help.
Too bad you left early and missed all the RAIN! Glad your feeling better Dot. And you really didn't smell like the outhouse, I was just trying to make you laugh...

I may have been all over your appendicitis diagnosis, but talk about neglegent on the blog commenting! 5 people beat me to the case!
So glad you're doing better, man.
I have a sweeeet picture of you in the ER on my phone that I'm saving as blackmail.
Annie, I'm so sorry, that sucks!! Man, your stomach does not like to be nice to you!!! I hope it's all better and you don't have to deal with it anymore. You need to send Hank over tomorrow afternoon so you can get some rest. Or just have some alone time while Max naps. I'll call ya. :)

THat sucks, I should really look at blogs more often than I would've known sooner. I'll bring over some dinner, how's monday?
