It's already that time of year again. It's the time of year when I feel like I have a lump in my throat 75% of the time. It is a vivid reminder my kids are getting older. I get so attached to their teachers and I have to tell them good-bye. They are such a big part of our lives. We have been so fortunate to have Miss Oliekan for first grade. She has impressed me so much. I have to admit, sending Hank off to school all day this year made me very anxious. She has calmed all my fears and completely stepped up to the challenge of having a diabetic in her class. She gladly complies with my every request. I'm going to miss our little chats every day at lunch time. Through the shots and all the pump drama she has kept calm and collected and it has given me such piece of mind. Not to mention Hank completely trusts her and has been so comfortable at school this year. If only she could just follow him to 2nd grade. The kids performed a puppet show for their program to showcase their incredible reading skills. Man there are some amazing readers in her class. I can't believe how well Hank reads!
This picture kills me. What a perfect example of me trying to capture a perfect shot of me and the kids. Hank was hyper man, I need a haircut, and Sam looks like he is drugged. At least Max looks cute. I think Sam was drugged now that I think about it.
It's safe to say my kids have one of the most darling grandmas around.
After the program, Grandma Jackie treated all of us to U-Swirl, Hank's favorite. He has more than deserved a 120 carb treat! He continues to excel at everything he does. I am so proud of him. He deals with so much every day and handles it with such strength. I'm pretty sure kids are supposed to look up to their parents but I think it is the other way around in this case. I love you Hank!

I think it's normal for you to have a lump in your throat--- but me? Pretty much anything with Hank gets me choked up. What a special kid you've got there, sis. And coming from someone who has taught first grade-- his teacher was just as lucky to have your family this year as you were to have her!
AND...I can also tell you that Hank is 275% ready for 2nd grade!!
