Happy Birthday Randy!

Happy New Year's and Happy Birthday to my love!  He just turned 36 which is so hard to believe especially since I remember when he turned 18!  Man time flies when you're having fun.  I know it sounds cheesy and cliché but honestly he gets better with age.  I love the man he has become.  We have some challenging and exciting times ahead of us this year.  JRI Insurance is expanding it's business to Cedar City in a couple months which means Randy and James will be taking turns commuting down there until we can hire someone to run the office.  I admire Randy's work ethic so much.  I have no doubt they will be successful.  Randy has never given me a reason to doubt him.  I support him completely but it is going to be tough having him gone so much.  Our kids are going to have the hardest time adjusting I'm afraid.  They love their daddy!  He is the kindest, most selfless person I know.  I just love him to pieces.

Every year his birthday comes and I have the best intentions to make it awesome.  Unfortunately it falls on New Year's Eve and that always throws a wrench in my planning.  We had a family birthday party the day before his actual birthday.

He was so excited to show off his newly acquired bar tending gear.

I can't thank this beautiful lady enough for raising such an incredible son!

Daddy's boy 100%

"Happy Birthday to you!"

Randy was really in the moment.

You can see in this picture Hank's head fleeing the scene, my look of shock, and Sam and Max disappointed they didn't get to help blow out the candles.  Freaking Hank snuck up and blew them all out before anyone else had a chance.  Little Punk!  It was a fun party, so fun in fact, I didn't take many pictures.  I felt like a birthday planning failure this year.  I had planned for us to go skiing but didn't plan for a babysitter...oopsies.  Good thing I have the most laid back hubby ever.  We made the best out of it the next day and took the whole family bowling.

Max insisted on using the heaviest ball.

His strategy was a good one since he took 2nd place.

Check out that form!

Speaking of form, take that 36!

Sam was too busy enjoying his pizza to bowl.

I ended up being the bowling champ, followed my Max, then Hank and the loser of the round ended up being the birthday boy.  Poor Randy.

We couldn't go home without some fun at the arcade.

Max hit the jackpot on his 2nd spin and scored 1,000 tickets!  It took 15 minutes to collect them all.  I'm taking this kid to Vegas.

It doesn't get closer than that folks!

Holy Tickets!  Max and Hank were able to buy pretty much any prize they wanted.  Meanwhile, Sam was busy at the candy machine loading his pockets.  I have no idea how he did it with no money but he cheated the system somehow.  It was a great day for the Griffin's at the arcade.

We got home and put Sam down for a nap and had Lucy come over to babysit for an hour while Randy and I went to the gym.  Who goes to the gym on their birthday you ask?  Apparently Randy and I!  We wanted to make sure we could indulge as much as we wanted at dinner plus I'll take any excuse I can get to hang out with Randy sans kids.
Sarah kindly offered to watch our kids for us while we went to a late dinner at our favorite restaurant.

Randy and I eat here quite often.  The food is great and the atmosphere is romantic.  It was the perfect spot for his birthday dinner.  When we got back to Sarah's we continued the party with the rest of the family.

Sam had to be cut off from the sparkling cider!

The sparklers were a hit as we rang in the new year.

Bring on 2014!  We are excited for a new year!

Happy Birthday Randy! I sure do love that kid err man...err son. I think you under estimate your party planning skills. It looks like Randy had an amazing day! So glad you and he hooked up so many years ago! <3
