Spring Break Carnival Cruise Style

You'd think after the crazy experience we had on our spring break cruise last year we'd be leery to do it again.  Well, I was definitely hesitant but Randy was determined to redeem ourselves.

The Bromley's agreed to watch Griffy for us so we dropped him off in Cedar on our way to Long Beach.

Poor pooch thought he was coming with us.  He was not happy when we left.  I wish we could've taken him with us.  It's not normal how much I missed him when we're gone. Our drive to California got delayed due to horrible traffic.  We added 3 hours to our commute which meant we had to get creative with bathroom breaks.  Poor Hank couldn't wait one more second.

So gross.  Finally around 7 p.m. we made it to California.  The boys did so well during our marathon car ride.  It didn't hurt that we rented a 2017 Suburban to drive.  It was so nice to travel in.  I think I need one when we get home.

We found the cutest Italian restaurant in Long Beach for dinner.

The next morning we had a few hours to kill before we boarded our ship. Just enough time to walk to the beach.

The water was freezing but they couldn't stay away.

Quick lunch before we set sail.

Sam didn't let the chilly weather stop him from going down the water slide first thing.

And of course we hit the ice cream bar next.

This was our room for the next 4 days.  There's no way you could've crammed one more person or bed in there.  We made sure to spend as little time as possible in the room.

Our first dinner on the ship.

Poor Sam had a hard time making it through our late dinner.

Randy took a passed out Sam to the room for bed while Hank, Max and I went to a show.  They made the audience get up and dance.  Needless to say, we left early.

The next morning we were ready to do everything the ship had to offer.  Sam was excited to be part of the Dr. Seuss parade.

Of course they picked his cute mug to be Thing 1.

Bingo!

Sadly, we didn't win.

The rest of our day at sea was spent here.  I went from sweats, to bikini, back to sweats.

Good thing the kids have a fun dad who doesn't mind getting wet.

Miniature golf

Chilling at the bar

Cheers!

Handsome boys, ready for dinner.

Sam decided to stay awake through dinner so we went to a comedy show.

When it got over, there were other activities going on but everyone was tired so to bed we went.

The next morning we woke up to this beautiful sight, Catalina Island.

We had signed up for a glass bottom boat ride and a botanical garden tour.  We were the first ones off the ship so we could get to our excursion plenty early.  I should've know something was up because there was no one waiting in the spot we were told to go.  We ended up missing our tour.  Lucky for us we got our money refunded and still made it on the glass bottom boat.

I thought the entire bottom of the boat would be glass, but it just had windows along the bottom of the boat.

It was still pretty cool though.  With our extra time, Randy took Hank and Max parasailing.  Sam and I opted to shop and play at the beach.

Parasailing was the highlight of the trip for Hank and Max.  I'm so glad they got to have that experience.  Randy said Max was leaning back and being crazy when they were up there.  I'm glad he didn't accidentally unclip himself from the rope.

Sam and I had a blast building this masterpiece.

Max helped once he got back.

I could live on this cute little island.  We will definitely be back.

The sun came out the kids were itching to get back on the ship and swim.

Life certainly doesn't suck.

Hank looks better in my new hat than I do!

Dressed up for dinner

The servers helping our table fell in love with Sam.  They would take his order and then ask him if he would be awake for dessert.

He gave it a valiant effort but he couldn't do it.  This dude plays hard and crashes harder.

The next morning we were in Ensenada Mexico

The boys got to tour the city via horse drawn carriage.

Max wanted a turn navigating the horse.

Next was our tour of La Bufadora.  It's one of the worlds biggest marine geysers.

It was awesome!

However the boys enjoyed shopping and bartering with the merchants in the local market more.

Sam was searching for the perfect stuffed animal to add to his growing collection.  Unfortunately for him, the selection was slim to none so we waited for the store on the ship.

Hank and Max on the other hand walked away with these sweet ponchos and backpacks.  They loved watching their daddy mingle as if he was a local.  They could've stayed there all day.  Luckily we made it back to our bus just in time with hot churros in hand.

Time for a few more slides.

Sam started a trend of backwards sliding.  It wasn't long before every kid was copying him.  The kids even talked me into going down the slide a few times.  All in all our cruise was a huge success.  No sick kids this time!  However, I will make this public service announcement.  The food they serve on cruise ships is unlike any food they've ever eaten.  I swear to you it is resistant to insulin.  Their blood was insanely high the entire cruise.  Correction, after correction, barely got any results.  It was nuts.  Hank and Max are the best sports ever.  They never complained, not once.  Lucky for me our room was small enough I could remotely give them insulin all night from my bed.  It's the little things.  We woke up early the next morning in Long Beach, ready to get off the ship and head to Universal Studios!
