Universal Studios

We drove straight to LA from Long Beach.  Universal Studios was calling our name.  No rest for the weary.  This bronze statue scared Sam to death when he came to life!

I haven't been to Universal Studios in years.  The Harry Potter land is a new addition, and super cool.  Hank has been reading the books and the rest of us are watching the movies.

The line for this ride was over 2 hours.  One of the employees at the gate asked Hank what the thing in his arm was.  We explained that he and his brother have type 1 diabetes and it's a sensor that monitors their blood.  He told us his girlfriend had recently been diagnosed with Type 1 and he understood just how difficult the disease can be.  He gave us front of the ride passes for the rest of the day.  It was such a kind gesture and so appreciated.

Sam wasn't tall enough to ride the Harry Potter ride so Randy bought him a wand.  A toy wand is a toy wand right? Not in the world of Harry Potter.  They take their wand selection seriously.  Since we weren't willing to spend 50 bucks on a wand I suppose we're not true fans.  Sam's pretty pumped with his cheap light up wand anyhow.

Who better to be in our family picture than Homer?

Homer would be proud of Hank with his Lard Lad Donut.  All five of us ate this btw.

The kids loved Bumble Bee.

Sam and Tucker call each other Scoobs and Shags so we had to get a picture for him.

We closed out our day at Universal with this gigantic pizza.  Between the pizza, the donut, and everything in between our bellies weren't feeling so hot at the end of the day.  We tried our hardest to make it to closing time but we were all exhausted around 8.  We stayed at a nearby hotel that night to rest up before the long journey home.  What an incredibly fun trip with my family.  The boys got along so well.  I feel very lucky we are able to take these trips with our kids.  We may have blown through a gallon of insulin but everyone returned home safe and sound.  I was so happy to retrieve Griffy from the Bromley's.  Oh how I missed my sweet pooch.
