Jeri

I have the most incredible mother in law.  We first met when I was a wee 15 year old and from that day on she has never shown me anything but love and acceptance.  I've always felt like I was one of her own.  Through the ups and downs that come with life, our relationship has grown stronger than ever.  She is such an important person in my life.  Not to mention she is a wonderful, fun grandma to my kids.  They adore her. We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn she has breast cancer earlier this month.  This poor lady has had her share of health trials, it just isn't fair.  I hate that she has to go through all of this, but if anyone can beat this, it's her.  Before her major surgery she planned a little get-a-way to the cabin with my family.

This gorgeous setting is just the place we needed to feel some peace in an unsettling time.  Jeri insisted on waiting on us hand and foot.  Between her and Scott, I don't think I lifted a finger...wait who is the sick one? They really showed us a great time as always.

Hank is old enough to understand what having cancer means.  I broke the news to him on this trip and he started to cry.  I assured him, grandma is a strong lady and she is going to beat this.  He immediately requested a 4-wheeler ride with grandma.

Sam had some quality grandma time as well while the rest of us rode around.  That is a content baby right there!  Grandma has the magic touch.
It's times like this that really put into focus what is truly important in life.  The relationships with my family mean the world to me and I never want to take for granted the time we have together.

Life certainly has thrown us a curve ball or two.  I know we can rally together and support Jeri through this horrible time.  She has helped me through so many struggles in my life.  It's time to repay the favor.  We love you so much Jeri, now fight like hell!

What a sweet post about such a sweet person. I really admire her strength and there's not a nicer person around! She's totally going to kick this...and I can't wait to see her progress and put it all behind her! Hang in there Griffins! Love you all!
