Hank's Shiner

Hank's first football injury is in the books.  Here I am thinking I'm being so responsible putting him in flag football instead of tackle.  If he would've been wearing a helmet this probably wouldn't have happened.  It was the second play of the game when Hank and the opposing teams player collided.  The swelling began immediately.  I'm so glad there was a nurse on the scene.  She quickly got him ice and ibuprofen and made sure he didn't have a concussion.  We left the game to have a doctor check him out and make sure the orbital bone wasn't fractured.

Hank was so tough through it all.

We were so relieved to hear there were no broken bones.  He just had some pretty intense swelling.  The next morning it looked so much worse but he insisted on going to school.

He was stoked to show off his battle wound.  Two days after his injury he had another game and didn't know if he would feel like playing.  Sure enough, he decided to play and ran the ball for a touchdown on the first play of the game.  In fact he had one of his best games of the season.  Nothing can keep this dude down for long!

His little skull image!!! That is the cutest thing I have EVER seen, and definitely a good thing that came of such a sad (and painful looking) incident. That would be framed if he were Jack.
