Team Hank Can't Be Stopped!

After months of fundraising and planning the JDRF walk finally happened.  I played a much more active role this year in the event and set a loftier goal for our team.  When I set our goal at $3,500.00 I knew it would be a long shot.  Thanks to my incredible friends and family and a hugely successful yard sale our total amount raised for JDRF is $4,225.00!!!  I'm so proud of that number.  It makes me feel like I'm really doing something to find a cure for this horrendous disease.  Being on the walk committee this year was also a great experience.  I met so many amazing people who've been dealing with diabetes and all the curve balls it throws much longer than me.  The way they handle their lives with one or more diabetics in their family is truly inspiring.  I'm so happy to be part of this group.  I know I will continue to be involved forever.  This is my family's cause and I will do whatever it takes to make sure this important research happens.
Riley helped me design our shirts this year and we supplied all our family and friends who came with official Team Hank shirts.  It was an awesome sight to see.

This isn't a complete picture of everyone who came but it's pretty difficult getting a group picture with all 41 walkers who showed up.  That's right, I said 41 walkers!!  It gets me choked up just typing it.
The following pictures were taken by myself, Sarah, Kate, Jeri, Scott, Riley, and my dad.
The first ones were pre-walk at our family tent.

We were greeted by the Lehi High School Cheerleaders, who started the walk off right for these boys!

The nature of the course this year made it possible for us to stay together as a big group.  Team Hank was definitely a force to be reckoned with.  I am so proud to know all of these incredible people.
After our 2 mile walk, everyone enjoyed lunch and each others company.  The kids had a blast with the blow up slides, carnival, and face painting.

Hank and Max's favorite part of the day was getting their hair dyed.

It was such a special day for Hank and our family.  I don't know if Hank is fully able to appreciate the tremendous support he has surrounding him.   Not to mention all the supportive friends and family we have that weren't able to walk with us. One day he will understand and it will give him the strength he is going to need to deal with diabetes the rest of his life.  I feel so loved and grateful. The Griffin family is incredibly blessed.  I can't thank everyone enough for making our event such a success.

This year was the bomb, man! I'm so proud of you for all you raised...and all the hard work it took to reach your goal. I've said it before-- but, Hank sure is a lucky boy to have you gunning for him. Inspiring mama, that's for sure. I think next year...you've earned having YOUR face on all the team Hank shirts!!
