The summer is officially over and it's back to school time for these handsome boys. They were both a little nervous to be starting at a new school this year. Luckily their friends from our neighborhood were going too. Max met his teacher the night before and my fears were eased tremendously about him going to 1st grade. I can just tell Mrs. Terry will be one of those teachers Max always remembers. She is so awesome. Hank has Mrs. Anderson and she seems very nice as well. I didn't get the warm fuzzy feeling when I met her but that's probably because she teaches 4th grade. How do I have a kid in 4th grade, by the way?
Sam was not happy to see his "best bros" leave him. I told Max I would see him at lunch so that eased Sam's sadness for a minute.
I don't know why I worried one second about Max. He's the king of 1st grade. His little buddies are so cute. He transitioned into all day school with no problem at all. He was ready!
I expected the typical back to school melt down but he's never had it. First grade is the perfect place for Max!
That leaves Sam home with me for lots of one on one time while Hank and Max are gone. I love hanging out with my little buddy but he can't wait for his bros to get home.
He decided to ride in style to the bus stop to pick them up.
As soon as he could see them step off the bus he took off on a dead sprint towards them. I missed capturing the embrace, but it was too cute for words. He has the best big brothers ever.
Once they are home, our house becomes the hangout destination for most of the neighborhood.
I wouldn't have it any other way. I love having all these kids here. Sam even had Jake come over for him. We live in such a great neighborhood with so many awesome boys!
A few days after school started, Hank had a field trip to the Storytelling Festival. I didn't hesitate for a chance to tag along. I'm happy to see Hank has so many great friends but a little saddened he's getting too old to hang out with his mom on field trips. I watched from a distance so I don't appear to be the lame mom. My kids just refuse to stop growing up!
