After finishing very successful seasons at the city level, both boys moved onto the State Tournament this week. Since Randy is coaching both teams, we had an insane week of baseball. Max played in Payson, and Hank played in Salem. The boys just kept winning, so that meant more and more games. It was so exciting to watch.
Max's team made it to the championship game. Hank's team played at the exact same time so I was literally driving back and forth during both games so I could see it all. My sweet parents were there to pick up the slack and be there when Randy and I were frantically running from game to game.
As one of the only 2nd graders on the team, Max did incredibly well. He played so tough and didn't let the older boys intimidate him. Unfortunately they lost the championship game but 2nd in state isn't too shabby.
What a little stud. Randy was so sad he missed this.
What would we do without Grandma Jackie?
I'm looking especially haggard. As I attempted to watch part of Hank's game in between Max's games, I got hit in the head by a misthrown ball. I was rattled and totally embarrassed. After I sat in the shade with a bag of ice on my head for a few minutes I had to get to Max's last game. I made it but I was a little late and missed a low blood sugar episode for poor Max. I felt so awful. The stress of the week combined with my head injury was just too much. I had a little cry and rallied. I'm so glad I was there for Max for most of his game.
And a totally random picture with Mayor Wilson to end the season.
Hank's games were equally exciting and action packed. His team peaked at the perfect time. I've never seen them play better. Hank pitched, hit, and made huge plays at short stop.
My parents didn't miss a game. Sarah really made a huge effort bringing all 3 kids clear to Salem to watch him play.
My parents are so invested in these kids. This picture shows it all. We are all so lucky. This picture was taken during the game that determined if the Mets made it to the championship game. We led the entire game and lost a heart breaker because of a controversial call. The boys were devastated but pulled it together to play in the consolation game.
They won the final game of the season landing them 3rd place in State.
What an awesome group of boys.
Sam survived hours upon hours in the car and at the park. He rarely complained and kept himself entertained with all the other siblings running around. He loves his bros and is their biggest fan.
My heart!
I couldn't be more proud of my little ballers. Not only did they play their hearts out, they did a phenomenal job navigating some insane blood sugar. Game after game, taking pumps off, strange eating times, nerves and heat made diabetes management extremely difficult. These boys are my heroes. No one really knows what they go through every single day.
How can they fail with the incredible support system surrounding them?
Baseball moms!! Exhausted baseball moms.
We left the park around 10 pm after a full day and had to be at Max's first Arsenal game the next morning at 7.
Bring on summer soccer!! He looks good in his Arsenal gear, go Mino!
