Lego Drama

If you will remember back to one of my Christmas party posts, Sam got a Lego mini figure just the like the one pictured.  Fast forward to a few days later.  I was in the bathroom when a panicked Max and Sam came running in trying to tell me Sam swallowed something.  After a very scary next 15 minutes of Sam struggling to throw it up, crying and choking I realized he had swallowed the Lego shield.  After he got it down, he told me is accidentally swallowed the weapon.  He complained for over an hour of stomach pain so I decided to take him to the doctor to get things checked out.

For some reason they did an x-ray to locate the Lego, even though plastic won't show up on a radiograph.  After our doctor consulted the radiologist they came to the conclusion the Lego had made it to the intestines and would eventually pass.

Sam was freaking out during the entire process.  I'm talking, kicking, screaming, and telling me he doesn't like me and he wants to go home about a billion times.  Thank goodness for suckers.  It was the only thing that would get him to stop screaming.  Once he calmed down, the pain seemed to gradually subside.  Now we had to wait for it to come out.

After 8 days of thorough poop monitoring, the shield finally made it to the other side.  It was like I found the prize in the cereal box, except way more disgusting.  What a journey this little peice of plastic had to make.  The digestive juices have nothing on plastic!  What a random ordeal.  Sam will never be putting a lego in his mouth again, I can promise you that.
